NextGenerationEU is the European Union’s plan to help repair the economic and social damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic. It is an instrument for the sustainable, uniform, inclusive and fair recovery of all EU Member States.
Framed within this recovery plan, the Government of Navarra has identified more than 125 projects to carry out in the region between 2020 and 2026, in the areas of social and territorial cohesion, digital innovation and environmental transformation.
- The Digital Innovation Strategy comprises investment in 35 projects for 716 million euro: connectivity and 5G development, digital literacy, innovation based on artificial intelligence and big data, digital transformation in the public sector, integration of digital tools in Health and Finance, Digital Innovation Park, etc.
- The Navarra Green Ecological Transition Strategy proposes a change in the productive model based around six key areas: renewable energies, sustainable building, mobility, rural development, the circular economy, and biodiversity. It covers 74 projects with a budget of EUR 770 million, which would mobilise an investment of EUR 3.5 billion. These projects range from an automotive battery pack assembly plant to a local product logistics centre, projects to renovate the energy infrastructures of buildings and the urban infrastructure, wind farms with new technologies, thermal storage, and a national construction industrialisation centre, among others.
- As to the Social and Territorial Cohesion Strategy, it encompasses projects like the Transformation and Resilience Plan, budgeted at 790 million euro, which includes actions like the Navarra Canal and the modernisation of transport infrastructure; innovation in long-term care for 53 million euro; the strengthening of social services for 19 million; or the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan for the Public Health System, budgeted at 217 million euro.
These are just a few of the projects to be carried out in Navarra for a total 3400 million euro.
